Udaipur Solar Physics Meeting: Vikram Discussions
"Solar Transients and Space Weather"
The Udaipur Solar Physics Meeting – Vikram Discussions 2026 [USPM-VD 2026], on the theme “Solar Transients and Space Weather,” will be held at the Udaipur Solar Observatory, Physical Research Laboratory, during 28–30 October 2026. The Vikram Discussions at PRL are a series of focused scientific meetings aimed at fostering in-depth scientific discussions, encouraging interactions among researchers, and developing collaborative research projects.
Tentative Programme Structure
The event will comprise a Solar Data Analysis Workshop for PhD students and young researchers, followed by an Island Observatory Visit on 28 October, and the main scientific meeting on 29–30 October.

The month of September holds particular significance for India’s solar and space research, marking several important milestones, including the foundation of the Udaipur Solar Observatory, the launch of Aditya-L1, and the commencement of scientific observations with the Solar X-ray Monitor (XSM) onboard Chandrayaan-2. These milestones reflect the steady growth of India’s capabilities in solar and heliophysics, spanning ground-based observations, space-based X-ray astronomy, remote sensing of the solar atmosphere, and studies of the solar wind and interplanetary environment.
The scientific programmes and sessions of USPM-VD 2026 will be inspired by the significance of these September milestones. The event will bring together researchers working on solar transients, their manifestations from the solar atmosphere to the heliosphere, and their implications for space weather. The meeting will provide a forum for scientific interaction and collaboration, with an emphasis on connecting observations with the underlying physical processes and exploring emerging scientific opportunities offered by current and upcoming solar and heliophysics missions.
